False discovery characteristics for determining threshold values for pairwise associations. The results are organized by first cancer types and second effector types. For each cancer type and effector type, we vary the thresholds of three statistics (1) log-likelihood ratios, (2) log-permutation p-values, (3) correlation coefficients and select significant (effector, target) pairs accordingly. Three scores based on significant pairs and all candidate pairs are reported: (1) numbers of significant pairs that pass the thresholds, (2) false discovery rates, (3) numbers of false discoveries. The relations between the three scores and three threshold values are displayed in nine panels. The selected thresholds are marked by red asterisks.
